Aleena Rizvi is a documentary filmmaker and photojournalist based on Wallumedegal and Gadigal land. With a background in Media Arts & Production and Social & Political Science, her work spans immersive exhibitions and screen-based storytelling that foregrounds culture, memory, and diaspora. She has supported the post-production team on MasterChef Australia at EndemolShine, contributed to Blackfella Films’ The Idea of Australia docuseries, and worked as a cultural consultant on Daytime Deewane. Her portfolio includes directing and editing the short documentary Khandaan and curating Leftovers, a multidisciplinary exhibition exploring cultural preservation and erasure through food, music, language, and ritual.
Aleena is the founder of Leftovers Archive, an online platform that continues this work by honouring First Nations voices as the original storytellers and cultural custodians of this land. Her creative direction is informed by her lived experience, with a focus on amplifying underrepresented voices and creating work that bridges art, culture, and community.
